"Agent Carter" Show Extract

The show "Agent Carter" has many different camera shots, sound effects, examples of mise-en-scene, and different types of editing. Writing about about this film is helping me to understand how these shots are actually used in movies and how they can affect them and change how they may be viewed. In the tv show the show starts by using close up shots to show the ending of "Captain America: The First Avenger" when Steve dies and Peggy has to say bye to him. Then in the show we move on to an establishing shot to show New York which tells us that it has been some time after Steve Rogers was lost and Peggy had to move on and start somewhere new. After the establishing shot we move into a close up shot over Peggy's shoulder where we see her at a desk talking to two men. The show also uses close up shots when Peggy is trying to infiltrate the enemy base and she ends up having to fight 2 men. In the scene it is quickly cutting in between Peggy's view of the attack a...

Mise-En-Scene in The Godfather

I am making my mise-en-scene post on the movie The Godfather which came out March 24, 1972. This movie is about the Corleone family's struggle to stay alive in the ruthless Italian Mob. This movies shows how the Corleone family has to deal with the death of each other and of loved ones, the betrayal of friends, and the rise of Michael Corleone as the new head (or Don) of the Corleone mob family. The movie was directed by Francis Ford Coppola, but the book was written by Mario Puzo. In the begging of the movie we are introduced to Amerigo Bonasera the undertaker (this is important to the story), Bonasera is explaining to Vito "Don" Corleone how Bonasera's daughter was assaulted and how the men who did it were persecuted and then they were let go by the judge who was most likely paid off. In this scene it starts off with low key lighting when it shows the perspective of Don Corleone. The only form of light is coming from a window behind Corleone and the light shines on...

Master Edits in A Professional Film Audio

Intro: 1. Music: I added music throughout the film just to give it some emotion and some fun to it. The music didn't really have a theme the only purpose of the music was to hype up the sections.  Contrast: 2. Music: This music is used to show how calm the dog is when she is eating her bone but then the next sound can be used to show how she reacts when she is playing with someone. 3. Post Synchronization Dubbing: For this part I added what is called the Wilhelm Scream which is used in many famous movies, this scream shows how my brother would react when being attacked, even if harmless, by anyone.  Parallelism 4. Music: This music is once again just used as a way to connect the clips and add a little hype to the scenes too. 5. Post Synchronization Dubbing: In my parallelism clip, I have two sounds of a bouncy ball bouncing and a sound of dog feet pattering on tile floor. This addition of the sound allows for people to understand what is happening in the clip. Symbolism: 7. Mu...
