Movie Opener Final Cut

https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=6Qlf7QFNT1M One big change we made to our film opening was the removal of any music this way we could add Jovani's voice as a voice over to show what the film was all about.

Peer Reviews

Film #7 Peer Reviews What specific elements of the film opening did you like? Was there anything that left you confused? (be specific) What suggestions do you have for changes? Great intro camera angle and quality commentary going throughout. Were the other two kids against the lonely kid? They could've showed a quick clip at the end with becoming all friends. Some of their camera angles/shots were very interesting and made the film look professional I think the plot is that they bumped into each other in the halls multiple times, and then in detention he stood up for him, but I'm not exactly sure. change some of the transitions, and maybe include more obvious instances of the two main characters being "polar opposites" to make the storyline make more sense I loved the camera angles and the way this was filmed. The beginning shot with the drone ...

Editing 2

In these two photos we see me finishing up the editing process and adding all the last minute edits. In this photo we see me cutting out any extra parts of the clip that we didn’t need or that added to much time.

Editing 1

In these two photos we see as I struggle to put the clips together in order to make the time requirements. Some other problems we encountered was the music we would be using. In this picture I am cleaning up the clips and cutting out the parts where we were planning on starting to film.

Filming 2

BLOG POST 2 FILMING 2 Our second day of filming is when we got a bunch of the shots that we wanted. In the film I play the role of the loner kid that is also shy. In the film opening I am walking to detention, the lighting of the scene was good because we just needed the lightning from the hallway of the school. The scenes that we filmed will allow us to show the viewers the main character and what the movie is about but it doesn't give away any explicit details.

Beginning to film

Image
BLOG POST 1 BEGINNING TO FILM When my group began filming we wanted to make sure that we would be able to get the whole hallway in the shot so we had to set up at the corner and get ready to film. This is our group member, Diego, he was holding the camera so that we were able to see if this location would work as the filming shot.  We didn't really look at any shooting locations since this one was closest to the classroom we were using as one of our filming locations.  This corner was used as our shooting location because it was able to show all sides of the hallway so that we could show the two main characters as they are both walking.

Preparing to Film

For the actors we will be using Jovani as the popular kid who everyone likes, Luca as the loner who doesn't have any friends, and Mr. Chambers as the teacher who picks on the loner and eventually the cool kid. For costumes Jovani will come in wearing clean fitted clothes, and Luca will wear a black hoodie with the hood over his head and some other beat up clothes. For now we will most likely not have props. This will take place in school in Mr. Chambers room, the hallways, and maybe in another classroom we are still discussing it. The dates and times will most likely be throughout the school year. We were planning on writing a vague script and also winging it so that it seems more natural. The film equipment will be a phone.

"Initial Storyboard".

Image
For the storyboard our first idea was to do it in the horror genre. We changed this out for a coming of age comedy because it seemed easier to do and make flow. Jovani and I originally came up with the idea of a coming of age film in which the shy loner (Luca) and the popular kid (Jovani) get in detention and become friends. The idea of Mr. Chambers being our antagonist was Diego's idea. The making of the storyboard was left to Diego, however, Jovani and I gave Diego the backbone of it.

Movie Opener Brainstorming and Research

 1. Rise-  We see a lot of different shots, close up and extreme close up shots, we also see as the camera follows the way the player  moves, we hear upbeat music, and then we hear a change in music which forces the viewer to feel suspense. 2. Offline- We see creepy music, lowkey lighting which is used to cause a sense of eeriness in the viewers, contrast is shown by  showing the girl in the cage and then her daily life. 3. Dear Lover- We hear happy music, romance between the characters, a voice over which connects with the audience, and the ending of it draws the viewer in and makes them want to watch the movie. 4. Dare to Thrill- The opening starts with upbeat music and a lot of action, however, near the end it gets really confusing. 5. Always watching-  This one contains a lot of suspense and it contains a lot of information for the opening scene. 6. The Blue Boar The opening of this film starts of with different elements of music and a combination ...

Film Opening Research #2 - "Avengers: Endgame."

How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? The opening scene of Avengers: Endgame is showing us what happened to Hawkeye's family after Thanos snapped. After this we see the "MARVEL STUDIOS" logo, in it you can see scenes that happened in the previous marvel movies. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  The images that are prioritized are what happened to Hawkeye's family. We see in "Avengers; Infinity War" that many of the Avengers were snapped away but we didn't really see the extent of the damage, unless you watched the end credit scene, so in the opening of "Avengers: Endgame" it showed us how no one in the world was safe. This scene also sets up what happens later in film when we see what happened to Hawkeye we know it is because he lost his family. What connotations do the images carry?  These images carry sadness and are very emotional because Hawkeye did everything in his powers to have a hap...

Semester Exam - Film Analyses of Black Mirror (season3, episode 4, San Junipero)

In the film extract, "Black Mirror" the director  can  combine different elements to make the viewer experience a sense of curiosity, mystery, and some fear.  The  director  does this through the lighting, camera shots, sounds, costumes and editing.   The way that the lighting was used in this extract was  to make the mood seem more mysterious and spookier. The director does this by making the  lighting of all the scenes darker  and just using smaller background lights to  provide   some form of lighting. This adds suspense and mystery to the scenes and what we see.  For example, in the club that the main character is in it is extremely dark and the only thing providing  light is the LED light strips around the sides and the arcade machines  providing light also.   The camera shots also provide suspense as  we  watch Yorkie, the main characte r,  walking through the streets stumbling around not sur...

Film Opening Research #1 - "The Fast and The Furious (2001)”

How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?      - There are two titles that are shown in the opening of the movie, the two titles are the, "Universal Studios"           title and the title of the movie. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?      - Cargo trucks containing boxes with different items are prioritized in the opening scene, these boxes      contain tv's, cars, wheels, and then there is a chase scene after it. What connotations do the images carry?      - These images make the viewer feel unsure about what is happening, this is the case because the                viewer isn't really sure what is going on or why it is happening. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?       - The action genre is reinforced through technical codes when the scene takes...

"Agent Carter" Show Extract

The show "Agent Carter" has many different camera shots, sound effects, examples of mise-en-scene, and different types of editing. Writing about about this film is helping me to understand how these shots are actually used in movies and how they can affect them and change how they may be viewed. In the tv show the show starts by using close up shots to show the ending of "Captain America: The First Avenger" when Steve dies and Peggy has to say bye to him. Then in the show we move on to an establishing shot to show New York which tells us that it has been some time after Steve Rogers was lost and Peggy had to move on and start somewhere new. After the establishing shot we move into a close up shot over Peggy's shoulder where we see her at a desk talking to two men. The show also uses close up shots when Peggy is trying to infiltrate the enemy base and she ends up having to fight 2 men. In the scene it is quickly cutting in between Peggy's view of the attack a...
